The first Center for Malay World and Ottoman Studies was opened in KL, Malaysia

 

The first Center for Malay World and Ottoman Studies was opened in Kuala Lumpur

With the collaboration of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and our university, the first Center for Malay World and Ottoman Studies was opened in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

In the opening ceremony; Prof. Dr. Musa Duman, The Dean of the faculty of Islamic Studies Ahmet Turan Arslan, the principal of the Alliance of Civilizations Institute Prof. Dr. Recep Şentürk, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serdar Demirel, the president of the Institute of Yunus Emre Prof. Dr. Hayati Develi, the member of central bank Prof. Dr. Sabri Orman, Prof. Dr. Alparslan Açıkgenç were present.

In his opening speech, Dr. Rais Yatim, the honorary president of IIUM and the former minister of culture, emphasised the broadness of the geography the Malay World has influenced.

With its 300 million population, the Malay World that expanded to a wide territory including Sri Lanka, Madagascar and South Africa by means of its network of religious, cultural, social and economic relations has taken place within its research field.

In order to achieve the common goals, make joint efforts and collaborate , the equivalent center for Malay World and  Ottoman Studies  will be launched in our university as well in soon time.
