Turkish Higher Education Receives Full Marks from European Commission on multiple Indicators

President of the Council of Higher Education, Erol Özvar, announced that the Turkish higher education system received full marks on 9 out of 18 key indicators in the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) 2024 Bologna Process Implementation Report. Özvar noted that Turkey, having passed all indicators, achieved a score of 4 out of 5 on 6 key indicators and 3 out of 5 on 3 indicators. The report, which evaluates 18 key indicators related to higher education, uses a five-point scoring system. Nine of the indicators pertain to core commitments related to education levels, recognition, and quality assurance; eight address the social dimension of higher education, while one focuses on internationalization.

Commenting on the Bologna Process Implementation Report, President Özvar emphasized that the data clearly demonstrates the significant capacity of Turkish higher education. He highlighted that the Turkish higher education system has made remarkable progress in recent years within the EHEA, outperforming many countries in various areas. “Turkey has demonstrated a successful performance in many indicators related to higher education, leaving several countries behind. The advancements in Turkey’s higher education system have enabled it to achieve a stronger position internationally,” Özvar stated.
